PROJECT SMILES 32 (PS 32) is a community based initiative that focused on optimal oral
health thereby contributing to the improvement of the general well being and
quality of life of people in the community through oral health education,
promotion as well as screening of the oral disease.
VISION
PS
32
is dedicated to achieving optimal state of the mouth and normal functioning of
the organs of the mouth without evidence of disease.
MISSIONS
1. To improve the
community patterns of oral health by providing them with knowledge concerning
the prevalence of oral problems and methods for their prevention and control.
2. The PS 32 will deliver
health education that will enable people to have an increase control over their
oral health.
3. Providing the community
with skills, social support and environment reinforcement they need to adopt
long term healthy behaviours.
OBJECTIVES
1. Increase awareness of oral preventive care through
demonstrations of flossing and brushing techniques.
2. Modification of behaviours through practicing proper
home care habits.
3. Enlightenment on their nutrition and diet selections
in relating to optimal oral health.
4. Emphasizing the relationship between oral health and
systemic disease.
5. Effective measure to strengthen preventive oral
health care goals and to realize the primary prevention policy.
IMPLEMENTATION
The AEI approach
will be used in implementing the set objectives.
Advocacy
– To promote good oral health practices among the people of the community.
Examination
– Free Oral examination and Screening.
Intervention
/ Professional development – Fissure Sealants, Fluoride therapy, Enhancing
links to oral health providers and advice follow up visit to a dental clinic if
needed.
